About us
BB Ottawa came to be in 2010. 1 year after the birth of my 3rd child. 6 mos earlier I was desperate to get back into shape and lose my baby weight. I also wanted to play soccer again that summer. I recruited a friend from soccer to join me 2 nights a week for 45 min.
We went to the local park and did random interval training. All body weight exercise with some challenging stair and hill drills. The first few weeks were really hard. I felt weak in my stomach and low back muscles and everything was loose and jiggly. It was hard to keep going some nights. But I was determined. I still wanted to be an athlete. 3 mos later I was fitter than I had ever been.
I lost all my baby weight and played soccer in a competitive league. 90 min games. No injuries. No muscle soreness. It was an amazing feeling to have reached my fittest level at 37. With 3 little kids. I was so inspired by my own transformation I wanted to share this with everyone I knew.
But who? And how?
That August I went to the Can Fit Pro conference. Signed up for every Bootcamp class I could find. Gathered as much info as I could. I was sore again. But ready.
Soon I noticed my neighbourhood mom friends were complaining about the challenges of getting out for a night or two to either exercise or socialize with other moms. That Fall, Better Body Bootcamp Ottawa registered its first participants. My plan was to offer an intense challenging workout to my neighbours with a huge emphasis on socializing while they sweat. The concept was a hit. My audience was small, so, in 2012, 1 year after the birth of my 4th child I partnered up with OOE - CAG (Old Ottawa East Activity group). This allowed my business to move into Brantwood Park in the nice weather and Lady Evelyn public school in the winter. I have been blessed with 8 years of amazing people in my classes. We continue to keep the emphasis on socializing while challenging our bodies.
