My Story

Better Body Ottawa started in 2010, founded by me, Katie Ireland, a physiotherapist and mother of four, passionate about fitness and wellness.

My BOOTCAMP stems from my own personal drive to feel better, age better, perform better as an athlete and be a better mom. 

After my third child was born I was tired, out of shape, overweight and feeling desperate to play soccer again. With my fitness & aerobics background, I knew what to do, I just needed to start. Slowly, I started doing various intervals of strength & cardio exercises, small amounts at a time. At first, my muscles and body ached. Gradually, I added more exercises and more time to my workout. Overtime, I became stronger and fitter. Within 6 months I was back to soccer. I felt better than I did in my 20s.

I knew this was a style of training I needed to share. In 2010, I invited other moms to join me to train with me in our local park.

Over the last 12 years, I have brought together a  community of women, offering them a variety of workouts, weekly challenges, a FB support group and a chance to socialize with other like-minded women.
